The Challenge: Horan & Associates was moving into new corporate headquarters. OstermanCron, together with interior designer Jean-Marie Arelt, were challenged to create an upscale image, streamline Horan's workspace and make the environment ergonomically sound.

Office Furniture Considerations
At the outset of the project, Horan identified a number of objectives. First and foremost, Horan wanted to create a high-end, professional environment that was comfortable for both clients and employees. Their previous space was cramped; they wanted their new space to express stability, yet have an airy, open feeling.


Ergonomics & Technology
"Our office uses computers extensively, explained Doug Miller, Senior Partner at Horan. We weren't ergonomically correct. We saw our new space as an opportunity to improve and to make our employees more comfortable and healthy. The move was also an opportunity to upgrade technology. Voice and data technology requirements were planned for the next five years and the furniture systems had to accomodate our growing needs."

The Solution: Furniture selection was one of the key elements used in obtaining their updated image.
"The range of options under Kimball Office allowed us to select higher-end pieces for the more visible areas such as the reception area, conference rooms and partner's offices," commented Jean-Marie, "while also providing the flexibility of systems furniture at the open office areas for future reconfigurations."

Today, Horan's employees work at ergonomically correct workstations. The entire office is networked and the flexible design of the workstations allowed Horan to easily incorporate voice and data.
